Immune Boosting Foods

Let me start with a quick rant! Personally, I believe there is no supplement, herb, or vitamin that will help you to bring your immune system to optimal health without a good foundation of immune-boosting foods-- no matter how high the quality these vitamins or supplements are listed on the label.

However, there are two other factors you need to include to boost your immune system besides food because they all rank Number One. And here they are:

  • Immune system and stress are connected more than you think, so managing stress is critical.
  • The immune system and sleep are inseparable. So make sure you get enough sleep.

And of course--

-Choose your immune-boosting foods wisely. There are many things we call food, but between you and me they are not life-giving foods, and that is why you need to choose wisely.

When you take care of these three factors, then you can move on to supplements, herbs, and other immune system boosting factors, but again take care of the three foundations first.

So what are these immune system-boosting foods?

Everything that is natural, organic, and real wild food and processed in a way that is not damaged to the extent you are eating dead and hard-to-digest foods.

Anything you consume that is natural and minimally processed coming from nature will give your body the nutrients that it needs to thrive. Thus, your immune system will thrive too and become stronger and more resistant to diseases.

The foods I am going to share with you are not rare, exotic, prohibitively expensive, or will only be found in a secretive place in the Amazon forest or the Arctic region. Most of these foods are available and are much nearer to you, and more than you realize. And some maybe are not as easy to find, but if that means you need to drive an extra ten or thirty minutes, then I think that it will be worth the effort.

Sadly, many of these foods have been demonized as bad and unhealthy choices, but they are not. Here are some of the essential immune-boosting foods:

  • The health benefits of eggs and the best choice would be eggs coming from pasture-raised chickens from your local farms, farmers’ market.  Now they are becoming more available in grocery stores which are probably near to you.
  • Whole chicken and not only the chicken breast, please!  Chickens need to be raised humanely in pastures where they can roam outside in the fresh air and be in the sun.
  • The same thing applies to beef, preferably grass-fed beef, where cows eat their natural food--grass.
  • Whole coconut butter and coconut oil. Coconut oil improves the immune system.  I absolutely believe this one should be among the first on the immune-boosting foods list.
  • Wild-caught fish and shellfish.
  • Organic vegetables and fruits.
  • Organic grains, legumes, and tubers.
  • Cooking fats such as tallow, lard, mutton, olive oil, and chicken fat.
  • Grass-fed Whole Milk and the best choice would be raw.  Raw milk is one of the best immune-boosting foods that I believe in, and I consume raw milk every day.
  • Grass-fed whole milk yogurt has additional benefits for boosting the immune system.
  • Cheese and preferably raw cheese made from grass-fed whole milk.
  • Grass-fed Kefir whole milk supplies additional health benefits and improves the immune system.
  • Nutrient-dense organ meats.
  • Meat stock and bone broth.

Oh, and one more thing I forgot to mention in my brief introductory ranting.  Prepare and cook your foods yourself because no one will care as much as you do when you prepare and cook your meal for yourself and your family. Start one step at a time, and gradually your cooking will be more time-consuming, but I truly think that will make your immune-boosting foods much more effective and more delicious at the same time.
