If you are wondering how to restore gut health then welcome to GutReality.com where the reality of our gut health is not so great in our present time. Here I will show you how to restore gut health naturally using the most powerful tool and that is food. Eating the right food the proper way will give your body the chance to heal itself.
it is amazing how Hippocrates was correct more than two thousand years ago when he talked about how all diseases begin in the gut. Because in our present time the more we study in-depth about the gut and the microbiome that lives there the more correct we realize how he was. I will share with you how to restore gut health from my own experience (and thousands of other individuals) and what diet did that for me in terms of healing my leaky gut and restoring my gut health.
And the GutReality.com site is all about that, when you restore your gut health you could heal your body from your chronic disease such as:
You know instinctively that there must be a fundamental solution to restore your health, which you have not been able to do with standard medications.
But you need to start with restoring your gut health first as Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride explains in her GAPS books. I would not have created this website talking about the importance of of how to restore gut health and also becoming a Certified GAPS Coach if I did not experience my health improvement thanks to the GAPS Diet protocol and Dr. Natasha’s books.
I encourage you to do the same if you are suffering from a chronic disease..
So let’s start with the basic yet fundamental facts that science is discovering and how it also validates the wisdom of the traditional diets our ancestors have followed for hundreds of years. In order to restore gut health let’s dig a bit deeper into the digestive tract and more.
Think of the human gut as synonymous with the digestive tract starting from the mouth and all the way down to the colon. It is a long twisted tube and every inch of it matters and what lives on it matters equally.
The human gut is a natural habitat for a large and active community of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa, worms, and who knows what else that the science has not discovered yet. And each community of microorganisms somewhat differs in microbe types and count numbers throughout the body. For example, the microorganisms that reside in the mouth are different from the ones residing in the stomach, small intestines, and large intestine(aka the colon).
And by the way, the same thing goes for other body areas than the digestive system so microbes living in the armpit area are different from the groin area and so on.
These beneficial organisms and bacteria in particular create a protective layer of the gut epithelium. Without this protective layer, your gut health is significantly compromised, and to improve or restore gut health function would be next to impossible.
When these ecosystems of microbes (protective layer) start to change due to eating habits, using personal care products, taking antibiotics and birth control pills, then the gut health becomes compromised and the more of these behaviors become frequent the more compromised and damaged the gut health becomes.
For example, highly processed foods can alter the gut flora in a negative way where certain types of opportunistic bacteria become more dominant and start to get out of control and the same thing goes for Candida albicans which is a type of fungus.
These microbes can produce toxins and damage the lining of the small intestine, making it porous hence the leaky gut syndrome. Antibiotics kill many types of bacteria indiscriminately, the beneficial and pathogenic ones, but do not touch Candida albicans and this yeast can flourish in the gut causing several types of diseases.
I sometimes wonder who rules who? And I think these little creatures have the final say! Let me list what they do just in case you are not sure yet how your gut flora contributes and restore your gut health.
They protect the digestive tract (aka gut) by forming a layer on top of the epithelium shielding us from whatever toxins and pathogenic microbes we breathe and ingest. This is not a fair analogy but think of it this way, to protect steel from rusting is spraying it with oil by coating the surface.
The gut flora also provides another method of protecting ourselves by secreting chemicals too.
Let me just share this with you as a Certified GAPS Coach and someone who restored his gut health significantly after several years of health decline…..
